Meet the Founder

Kristi Schonebaum began Monticello Wax Works after years as a candle enthusiast and connoisseur. Wicks were always carefully trimmed to 1/4” in the highest quality candles. But soot still gathered on her windows and walls, so she began making wax melts using plastic clamshells. This solved her soot problem but created a new, even more disturbing problem: single use plastic waste.

Overcoming these issues stimulated her creativity, and in the Fall of 2023 she began molding wax into fun, colorful shapes that complemented their fragrance. The fragrance oils are strong enough to use the unmelted wax tarts to freshen any room, like potpourri. They’re shipped with organza bags so they can be used as drawer sachets. Put a few in a cup to freshen your car for days at a time. And of course they can be melted in a warmer to release maximum fragrance in any home, school, dorm room, or office.
